It’s good news for commuters headed to Mysuru and Kodagu, as the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to shift its premier services from Mysuru Road Satellite Bus Station to Majestic tentatively from December 1.

In August 2011, the KSRTC had shifted these services from Majestic following Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited's (BMRCL) acquisition of KSRTC land to carry out work on the metro station.

The BMRCL had acquired 22 acres of land to carry out the project. After building the station on 7.5 acres, the remaining land was handed over to the KSRTC in a phases. After getting the land back from the BMRCL, the KSRTC started services to Hassan, Mangaluru, Udupi and others last month from the old terminal of the bus stand.

“These services will start from Majestic, then reach Mysuru Satellite Bus Station and proceed to the destinations. The passengers can board the buses at either of the two points, whichever is convenient to them. Majestic is more easily accessible than the Satellite station to many people as people can use metro or city buses to reach Majestic,” a KSRTC official said, adding that non-premier services will continue operating only from the Satellite Station. The decision to shift the premier services to Majestic was taken at a recently held meeting.

A total of 101 premier services to Mysuru and Kodagu will be shifted back to Majestic. The Mysuru-bound buses are likely to be from terminal 2 of Majestic bus stand. “Bengaluru to Mysuru route is popular.Buses ply every 15 minutes and they are operated till as late as 12 a.m and resumes at 2 a.m. They have occupancy of around 30 passengers during weekdays, and during weekends and festive seasons, buses run with full capacity.”

The move is expected to help people living in the northern and eastern parts of the city.

Meera, a resident of C. V. Raman Nagar said, “It is a good move. Accessing Satellite bus station was not easy unless you took the metro, which is not available day and night. One has to rely on autorickshaws or taxis to reach the bus station or take two buses. Reaching Majestic is easier for most people.”
