A managing director was found dead by his girlfriend after a night of drinking at his friend's wedding.
Andrew Trevor Giddings, 35, was staying at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel near Northwich in Cheshire with his partner Louise Murray, 30, on May 26 this year.
He was planning to propose to her on her 31st birthday in Las Vegas and had bought a ring from the Hatton Garden Jewellers in London.
She left him drinking at the bar with the groom and his friends around 11pm - and found him dead in their room a few hours later, reports Cheshire Live.
At an inquest into his death in Crewe today, Ms Murray described the years spent with Mr Giddings as 'the best of her life'.

The inquest heard that Ms Murray heard a knocking at their hotel room door shortly after she went to sleep.

She rushed to the door to find two porters had escorted her boyfriend upstairs and he was lying on the floor.
As they brought him into the room she tried to wake him by shaking him, but he didn't wake up.
The hearing was told Mr Giddings was taking antibiotics for a chest infection at the time, so his girlfriend turned him onto his side, causing him to vomit.
She told the hearing: 'I thought he would be okay and would sleep it off.'
But she fell asleep shortly afterwards - waking up to find he was cold and his lips were blue.
Paramedics were scrambled to the hotel room, but he was confirmed dead at the scene at 8.30am on May 27.
Coroner Heath Westorman today concluded Mr Giddings died of aspiration of gastric contents and alcohol intoxication.
A postmortem examination and toxicology report found his alcohol blood levels were 260mg per 100ml of blood. The drink-drive limit is 80mg.
Mr Giddings, who ran his own company, Giddings Capital Ltd, was one of the youngest people in the UK to fly in a plane on his own - at the age of just 16.
He was described as 'sociable and generous' to his family, friends and colleagues.
