There's something about staying in a hotel that seems to create unrealistic expectations in some customers.

And while an extra pillow might be as far as most of us will go, some guests seem to expect more. A lot more.

Now budget hotel chain Travelodge has compiled a list of the craziest requests it has received at its various Liverpool sites over the past year.

They range from people asking for a framed photo of Steven Gerrard in their room, to getting staff to dress up as The Beatles to perform at a wedding.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: “With 19 million customers staying annually in our 553 UK Travelodge hotels across the length and breadth of the UK, our hotel teams receive thousands of unusual requests from business and leisure travellers.

"Where possible, the teams will go above and beyond to help customers. They do like a good challenge. However there are some requests that they cannot help with."

Here are some of the maddest requests the city's Travelodge staff have been met with during the previous 12 months.
