Notorious Bhojpur criminal killed in police encounter

ARA: Traders in Bhojpur heaved a sigh of relief following the killing of a notorious criminal Hero alias Manish whose name had become synonymous with terror in the district.
Hero was killed in an encounter with the police on Tuesday night at Chatarbhuj Baraon village under Piro police station area. Police have also nabbed two of his accomplices—Abhishek and Kundan. Acting on a tip-off received by Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar that Hero was planning to commit some major crime somewhere under Piro police station area, police with the help of STF and the DIU launched an operation to nab Hero.
Though initially Hero managed to escape after an exchange of fire with the police at Jitaura Bazaar under Piro police station on Tuesday evening, he was soon trapped was killed in an another exchange of fire with police at Chaturbhuj Baraon village.
The SP has confirmed the killing.
It may be mentioned here that Hero was the main accused in the murder case of a Mahindra Tractor showroom staff member Vipul Mishra, who was killed in a firing incident by Hero and his gang members at the Mahindra Showroom, situated at Zero Mile, Ara, on September 20, in which another staff member Saroj Yadav had received gunshot injuries.
Hero was also an accused in the indiscriminate firing at a brick kiln situated at Ibrahimpur locality in which the Munshi or the manager of the brick kiln— Mantosh had received gunshot injury. In both the cases, a card was left behind by Hero and his gang members on which the letter ‘H’ and a picture of a Lion was depicted. According to police sources, Hero wanted to create a terror among Ara traders to demand ‘rangdari tax’ . On September 26, after the Mahindra Showroom firing incident, Ara traders had observed a complete bandh to demand the arrest of the culprit.
