Gujarat govt creates new post: Chief administrator of Statue of Unity

The new post has been created by the state government for better administration of the area surrounding the statue of India's first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Narmada district.

The collector of Kheda district, I K Patel, has been appointed as the chief administrator of ‘Statue of Unity’ (SoU) by the Gujarat government,
according to an official notification released on Thursday. The new post has been created by the state government for better administration of the area surrounding the statue of India’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Narmada district. The statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.

Patel, who is a 2006 batch IAS officer, will also be the Chief Executive Officer and Rehabilitation Commissioner of Sardar Sarovar Punarvasvat Agency (SSPA), Vadodara. He will be relieving Shahmeena Husain of the additional charge of the Sardar Sarovar Punarvasvat Agency.

Meanwhile, S B Patel, Chief Executive Officer of Surat Urban Development Authority, will replace I K Patel as the collector of Kheda and Amit Arora, Regional Commissioner of Municipalities, Surat will hold the additional charge of the post vacated by S B Patel.
