PATNA: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old man killed his four-year-old daughter after slamming her head on the floor at Garaiya Fakirtoli under Amaur police station area in Purnia on Wednesday.
Amaur police station SHO Pankaj Kumar said, “The accused, Shobhalal Sharma, was arrested and forwarded to custody after the incident.
“The deceased child, Shalu Kumari, was playing in the house when suddenly her father caught hold of her from neck and slammed her head on the floor.
Within minutes, the child was dead, her head beaten to a bloody pulp. The entire incident took place in front of the child’s mother Rajkumari Devi (40), who could barely do anything to protect her daughter,” said the SHO.
“Sharma had a heated argument with his wife at around 1 pm over delay in serving food. Soon after yelling at his wife, in a fit of rage he caught his daughter and slammed her head on the floor. The hapless mother with the help of few other villagers rushed the minor to a nearby primary health centre (PHC) where she was declared brought dead,” said the SHO adding police was later informed.
Kumar also added that Sharma, who works in a factory in Surat, had come home on November 11 and was scheduled to return next week. Rajkumari Devi was earlier married to Sharma’s elder brother but after his death, she married Shobhalal almost seven years ago and the couple had a daughter.
No one else other than the couple were present at home at the time of the incident.
