A Hillsborough man has been convicted of a North Brunswick bank robbery

NORTH BRUNSWICK - A 51-year-old Hillsborough man is facing a life sentence, without the possibility of parole, after being convicted Wednesday of a North Brunswick bank robbery, his third bank robbery conviction since 1987.

Quintin Watson was found guilty Wednesday by a jury of the Jan. 14, 2017 robbery of the Garden State Community Bank, according to a news release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

Watson, who is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 7, is facing a life sentence subject to the New Jersey Three Strikes Law. Watson was previously convicted in 1987 of a bank robbery in St. Louis, Missouri and bank robbery in 2006 in Madison County, New York, according to the news release.

Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Russell Curley prevented evidence and testimony, during a two-day trial before Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Benjamin S. Bucca, that shows Watson entering the bank, handing a note to the teller demanding money and leaving the bank with $5,772, according to the news release.

Watson was charged on Nov. 3, 2017 with second-degree robbery while he was in custody in Somerset County for three additional bank robberies. He is facing three indictments stemming from bank robberies in Somerset and Warren counties and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, according to news release.
