Teenage girl found murdered in West Champaran

BETTIAH: A 17-year-old girl was found murdered, after being allegedly raped and brutalized in a village under Gaunaha police station in West Champaran district on Thursday. SP Jayant Kant, while confirming the murder told this newspaper, “It would not be proper to say anything immediately. We shall wait for the postmortem report.”
“Prima facie, there is no allegation of rape.
The blood found with the body appears to be menstrual. We are also commissioning an FSL team,” the SP said adding that a named FIR has been lodged. “It would not be proper to reveal the names. The deceased girl had reportedly left her home after receiving a phone call. The case is being investigated,” Kant said.
Meanwhile, local reports claimed that the girl had gone to the sugarcane fields near her house for her morning ablution. When she did not return, her family got worried, their worry turned to grief after a villager who had gone towards the sugarcane plantations stumbled upon the girl’s body.
Soon, news of the incident spread like wildfire, fuelled with allegations of rape and brutalization of the victim’s private parts. Narkatiaganj SDPO Nissar Ahmad, who reached the spot with a large posse of police force told local media that police will wait for the postmortem report.
Ramnagar MLA Bhagirathi Devi, who hails from Narkatiaganj, too rushed to the village and helped the police in calming frayed tempers. “Police are investigating the case,” she told this reporter over phone and confirming the rape added, “The victim’s relatives said she had been raped and brutalized with sugarcane.”
