BHOPAL: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has termed Vyapam as the biggest scam of the century and demonetisation as the biggest scam in the history of independent India.
Addressing rallies in Deori town of Sagar and Seoni in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, Rahul made a scathing attack on MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and alleged that 50 people died in the Vyapam scam and entire state knows which family benefited from it.

“Those who did not had money could not clear the exams. It adversely affected the future of the youth as well as quality of professionals like doctors in the state. The education system has been destroyed due to the Vyapam scam,” he said.
Rahul condemned the state government for increasing unemployment in Madhya Pradesh and the BJP government’s failure to generate jobs. “In the last two years, unemployment has doubled and suicide rate among the youth has increased by 2,000%,” he alleged.
He also said that over 1,00,000 government posts in the state were lying vacant while schools and hospitals were privatised making them inaccessible to the poor.
The Congress president promised food processing units would be set up in all districts across the state and Madhya Pradesh would be turned into the country's agriculture hub, if Congress is voted to power. He also reiterated his commitment that his party government will waive of farm loans within in ten days of assuming office.

Terming demonetisation as the biggest scam in the history of independent India, Rahul said time would prove that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had robbed the poor of their hard-earned money and given it to a few rich.
Gandhi said, “Modi now does not talk about being a chowkidar (watchman) of the country tackling corruption. If Modi says so, people will respond with chowkidar chor hai.”
Raising the issue of Rafale aircraft, he claimed Modi cancelled the Rafale deal of 126 fighter aircraft with Dassault Aviation and HAL at a price of Rs 526 crore per plane without informing the Indian Air Force and the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar.
“The then French president Francois Hollande has said the Indian government had asked for Anil Ambani to be taken on board for the deal,” the Congress chief said.
“Modi gave Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani in this deal. This is the chowkidari he has done,” Gandhi said.
He claimed, “I met Modi ji and asked him about waiving farmers' loans. But he did not speak a word... He wrote off loans worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore of select industrialists and will slowly waive their remaining loan to the tune of Rs 12 lakh crore.”
“Modi let (Vijay) Mallya, Nirav (Modi), (Mehul) Choksi flee the country with public money, leaving the countrymen behind in bank queues,” he said.
“Have you seen any biggie like Ambani in queues after demonetization. Farmers, labourers, ordinary citizens were in the bank queues and women lost their life-long savings in one stroke,” he said.
Gandhi also targeted Modi over his promise to provide two crore jobs, saying, despite programmes like Make in India and Startup India, the NDA government failed to fulfill its promise.
