A-League: Brisbane v Melbourne City
10 Boss, 7.50pm
That's a good idea, said no one, when the match of the week moved from its spiritual home on SBS to the Ten Network, courtesy of a new TV rights deal that was signed in 2017. Coming at a time when the game pushes to expand with additional teams and a wider fan base, the move was roundly condemned. So far, the Melbourne and Sydney derbies had audiences of 75,000 and 76,000 respectively, which is what SBS averaged for the entirety of the last season. So much for cultivating a broader, commercial audience (a bit of promotion might have helped). This round-five match sees the struggling Brisbane Roar take on third-ranked Melbourne City. PK
