With wedding season round the corner, various parts of the capital will be witnessing massive traffic snarls on Monday. Traffic police officials are expecting heavy traffic on the roads, in the next few days too.

NEW DELHI: With wedding season round the corner, various parts of the capital will be witnessing massive traffic snarls on Monday. Traffic police officials are expecting heavy traffic on the roads, in the next few days too.
With thousands of weddings scheduled for Monday due to the auspicious 'Dev uthani gyaras', when it is believed that Lord Vishnu wakes up after 4 months from Kshir Sagar on 'Dev uthani gyaras' and that is why today is an auspicious day for weddings, the commuters might face huge traffic issues by evening.

"There are a large number of marriage ceremonies in Delhi today due to this traffic will remain heavy in various parts of Delhi. Please cooperate with traffic staff on duty," Delhi traffic police said on its Twitter handle.

Traffic remained heavy on GT Karnal Road from Singhu Border towards Bakoli during the evening rush hours and the Delhi traffic police advised commuters to avoid the stretch.

Snarls were also reported on New Friends Colony crossing towards Aali village.
Expect these places in Delhi to be hit with traffic snarl
Mehrauli, Chattarpur, Samalkha, Kapasehra, IP Extension, Vivek Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Preet Vihar, Alipur, Rohini,
Patel Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Paschim Vihar. According to traffic police, commuters will also face problems after 9pm as entry for commercial vehicles also open by then.
Gurugram having 1,000 weddings today
There are huge chances of traffic jams on Gurugram roads after 6pm. Old Delhi road and Sheetla Mata Road should be avoided. Beside these roads even sectors, colonies and villages will be blocked due to weddings everywhere. To deal with this, police officials have been deployed.
Noida, Greater Noida expected to have 350 weddings
Noida and Greater Noida will be having 350 weddings on Monday. A lot of marriage halls and community centres are in Hoshiarpur, Sarfabad, Sector 41 and 52. Try avoiding these routes as heavy traffic is predicted.
Around 3,000 weddings in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad has a lot of wedding venues and so these routes can be avoided: GT Road, Hapur Road, Ambedkar Road, Meerut Road, Rajnagar Extension Chowk, Duhai, NH-24, Diamond flyover road, Vaishali road, Muradnagar, Modinagar.
