The South African political landscape is in a state of utter decay.
Citizens will be voting along ideological lines or in terms of historical political affiliations. There appears to be no party or politician with true "out of the box" leadership qualities that could steer South Africa through the digital revolution.
So, what are we going to do about that? Democracy in its current form has gone stale and its flaws are being exposed. We need democracy 2.0.
So how about this... a party, lets say we call it ED (Enhanced Democracy). ED wins the election. The constitution of ED is phrased that a member of ED may not serve in the executive. ED may only make appointments of competent individuals by way of digitised democracy.
It kills party politics. It kills nepotism. A cabinet with a Ramaphosa figure at the helm which is made up by the best and most competent minds of all political parties.
An apolitical party to bring us together. That sounds like some serious unity. No factionalism, no party squables just competence and progress. I can seriously get on board with a system like that. Would you?
