The State Cabinet on Tuesday cleared the proposal to establish 28 ‘Mukhyamantri suposhan ghar’ (nourishment centres) in 10 high-risk districts to combat malnourishment. It also cleared the proposals for large-scale purchase of four-wheelers for the security of VIPs and VVIPs arriving in the state, as well as to set up “drop-in fuel plant” to generate synthetic fuel.

The proposed “suposhan” (complete nourishment) centres would be established by the chief welfare department in Chitrakoot, Chandauli, Fatehpur, Sidharthanagar, Sonebhadra, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sitapur and Gonda districts. Bahraich will have the most number of centres (14).

These centres will have a consultant, three nurses, two cook cum-care takers and a cleaner on contract basis.

These centers will conduct check-ups of malnourished pregnant women and their newborns. These centres will be established in community or prime health centres.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal of SunLight Fuels Private Limited to set up a “drop-in fuel” project to generate alternative synthetic fuel, with an investment of about Rs 1,500 crore. The company will be given several exemptions by the government including those on stamp duty for purchase of land for the project.

Festive offer

The Cabinet gave the go-ahead for purchase of 95 four-wheelers — including jammers and bullet-proof vehicles apart from regular SUVs — at a cost of Rs around Rs 23 crore to provide security to VVIPs and VIPs arriving in the state. Sources in the government said purchase of these vehicles was for the upcoming Kumbh Mela as well as the Pravasi Bharitya Diwas to be observed in Allahabad and Varanasi respectively in January 2019. While the government approved purchase of another 17 vehicles by the state estate department, it is in lieu of 17 discarded vehicles.

A proposal to establish Gorakshnath Research “Peeth” (seat) at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University in Gorakhpur with the investment of Rs 13 crore for construction of a building for research also got approval.
