Vadodara-based school organises ‘Natyashastra Rahasya’
VADODARA: City-based Global Discovery School, Sevasi recently organised a workshop on ‘awaken the performer within’- Natyashastra Rahasya at its campus.
The workshop was attended by 40 educators and school leaders from Vadodara and nearby cities like Jamnagar.
Inspired from the ‘Na?ya Sastra’, this interactive workshop offered the opportunity to master the drama of life and savour each moment as it arrived.
This immersive and experiential workshop provided access to techniques of invoking the performer within self and connecting it to day to day living and derive deep insights from the ancient Indian practice of dramaturgy to savour each moment as it arrives.
The workshop was conducted by Dr Shekhar Shastri, a poet, musician and dramatist who teaches ‘Sanskrit poetics’ and ‘dramaturgy’ at MIT, USA.
Shekhar writes poetry in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. He is a director of Meru Education Foundation, which is actively engaged in using Indian classical arts as a transformative paradigm in education.
Dr Shekhar was joined by Dr Vanita, dean at Ashoka University to conduct focussed engagement of the participants.
The participants explored the creative genius within and how to integrate the creativity into classrooms to make education more interesting for students. The workshop also dealt with small elements of classroom pedagogy such as use of body language/visual, vocal and verbal, the importance of its balance prescribed in ancient literature Natyashastra.
