Indian crime thriller Mizapur season one is available on Amazon Prime Video and has been thrilling viewers, despite its mixed reviews from critics.

The series cast includes Harshita Guar as Dimpy Pandit and Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanad Tripathi AKA Kaleen Bhai.

The News Minute praised the series, for "despite its flaws, Mirzapur has a certain earnestness and perhaps the over-enthusiasm of a young creative team."

The show's official synopsis states as follows.

“The journey of two brothers lured by the idea of power only to get consumed by it, Mirzapur is an amped-up portrayal of India’s heartland and youth.

“It's a world replete with drugs, guns, and lawlessness, where caste, power, egos and tempers intersect and violence is the only way of life.

“Iron-fisted Akhandanand Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi) is a millionaire carpet exporter and the mafia don of Mirzapur. His son, Munna (Divyendu Sharma) - an unworthy, power-hungry heir - will stop at nothing to inherit his father’s legacy.

“An incident at a wedding procession forces him to cross paths with Ramakant Pandit (Rajesh Tailang) an upstanding lawyer, and his sons, Guddu and Bablu.

“This snowballs into a game of ambition, power and greed that threatens the fabric of the lawless city. With heart-pounding action, violence at an operatic scale, gangsters with sharp minds and dry humour, Mirzapur is a hinterland story that is as raw as it gets.”

Sounds rather dramatic!

Times Now News backed this up by calling it "an engaging watch and captivates you from start to finish.

"That is if you can sit through the excess of blood and gore which, by the way, is too graphic. Is it binge-worthy? Yes, definitely."

No wonder it might not be for everyone, but sounds thrilling!
