20 convicted of stripping Bhojpur woman

ARA/PATNA: The special court of R C Dwivedi on Wednesday convicted all the 20 accused of parading a woman naked and indulging in rioting at Bihiya in Bhojpur district on August 20 this year. The quantum of punishment will be announced on November 30, said special public prosecutor Satyendra Kumar Singh ‘Dara’.
While the court found Kishori Yadav, Vishnu Kumar, Mumtaz Ansari, Sikandar Kumar and Vinod Kumar Keshri alias Madai Keshri guilty under various sections of the IPC and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for being involved in stripping of the victim and rioting, the other 15 were found guilty of rioting only.

DGP KS Dwivedi said, “The incident took place on August 20 and police filed chargesheet against all the accused with strong evidence on September 5. Speedy trial started in the case on September 13.”
A middle-aged woman was thrashed, disrobed and paraded on the streets of Bihiya by a mob suspecting her alleged involvement in the murder of an Intermediate student, Bimlesh Sah.
