WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Public Safety will be testing the state’s Amber Alert system.

The exercise is scheduled to take place Friday between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The department is testing various parts of the system, including the VT-Alert system that will send phone messages to thousands of subscribers who have signed up for VT-ALERT. The Vermont Agency of Transportation message boards on roadways will also post information about the drill and the Vermont Lottery will send messages to their signs, tickets and kiosks.

An emergency alert system will also be used to send messages to television and radio stations.
