VARANASI: Banaras Hindu University on Wednesday started a training programme to prepare eco-skilled Ganga mitras (friends of Ganga) under National Mission for Clean Ganga. . The university will train 200 volunteers as Ganga mitras in the next six months, and it may be further replicated at other places also depending upon the success of the initiative.
BHU VC Prof Rakesh Bhatnagar said the increasing population is one of the major reasons for pollution in the Ganga.
