PATNA: The state unit of
Indian Medical Association (IMA) and
Bihar State Health Services Association (BSHSA) on Sunday demanded removal of Bhojpur district magistrate Sanjeev Kumar for the alleged manhandling of three doctors by the DM’s security guards on November 20.
The two associations, which held a joint meeting at the IMA hall here, said they would accept the biometric attendance system for government doctors only if all other gazetted officers of the state government followed the same.
A joint statement of the two associations also said the civil surgeons should be made heads of the district health societies instead of the DMs. “The government should create a special force to ensure security of doctors working in government hospitals,” the associations said.
“We demand immediate removal of Bhojpur DM as his guards manhandled the doctors at his office. The incident was unfortunate. Civil servants should respect medical practitioners,” BSHSA general secretary Dr Ranjit Kumar said.
