Nitish Kumar inspects two solar power plants in West Champaran district
PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inspected two solar power plants in Champapur and Radhiya villages of West Champaran district.
He first visited Champapur village where a 20 kW solar mini grid plant has been installed to provide power connection to all households under the Har Ghar Bijli Yojna. A total 121 families in the village have been provided power connection from the solar grid.
CM visited the houses of Etwaria Devi, Gorakh Oraon, Smt Chandi Oraon, Parashnath Oraon and a few others to verify availability of power in their homes.
He also inquired about other problems of the villagers. The village women welcomed the CM by singing traditional rural songs and making Rangoli.
After visiting Champapur village, CM went to the government primary school at Champapur-Don where he inspected a stall of agricultural equipment.
He also launched a separate agriculture feeder there by distributing papers related to providing connection to agriculture feeder among the farmers. CM also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries of the village transport scheme and the students credit card scheme.
CM later visited Radhiya village where he inspected the functioning of a 10KW solar power plant. He also visited the house of one Bhoop Narayan Mahto in the village to verify electricity connection.

Talking to reporters, CM said the people who have been given responsibility to install solar power plants in the villages would also ensure maintenance of such plants for the next five years. They would also sort out if any fault cropped up in the plants.
CM also said that he had been receiving grievances from people that the LED bulbs being distributed among people were getting fused in a short period. “But, it is a matter of national level,” he said.
Nitish also told reporters that he had advised the concerned departments to take necessary steps to install solar plants in all residential schools for SC/ST and EBC so that people could be more aware about the solar energy.
He said the power distribution company officials have been asked to install solar street lights on each electric pole in the villages dependent on solar energy, so that arrangement of sufficient power could be made in streets.
