CHHAPRA: One Ritika (5), daughter of Shambhu Rai of Saha Mathia village under the Mufassil police station area in
Saran district, died in the
Chhapra sadar hospital on Wednesday allegedly for
want of oxygen cylinder.
Her Father said the hospital not only failed to provide oxygen to his daughter but also could not provide an ambulance to carry her body. Rai said he had to carry the body on his bicycle.
However, hospital manager Rajeshwar Prasad denied the allegations that oxygen was not available there.
He, however, admitted that the ongoing maintenance work in the hospital might have been the reason behind late arrival of the oxygen cylinder. Dr Shamim, who was on duty, said the patient was brought to hospital in a serious condition and collapsed before she could be given any medical aid.
Attempts to contact
Saran civil surgeon Lalit Mohan Prasad failed as his mobile phone was switched off.
