Tony’s pictures feature on local lifeboat calendar
A SEMI-PROFESSIONAL photographer who has a love for Guernsey harbours has had his pictures used in a 2019 calendar by the Guernsey branch of the RNLI.
Tony Rive is an avid supporter of the St Peter Port lifeboat and harbour scene and spends his spare time capturing images of boats in island waters.
Thorough his work he has got to know plenty of the lifeboat crew and has now had a number of his impressive photographs included in next year’s calendar.
‘I was absolutely over the moon to have my pictures in the calendar,’ he said.
‘My favourite picture was the one used for October, it’s a cracking shot of the boat crashing through the waves.
‘I am a huge fan of the RNLI and have been around the harbours since I was around eight years old.
‘It was a pleasure to be involved.’
The local freelance photographer said he has taken pictures around the harbour since he was a boy.
‘I have had a camera in my hand since I was around 10 years old, and have always taken pictures of the RNLI vessels.
‘I chose about 50 of my favourites and sent them to as many staff as I could to get their opinion of which ones should be used in the calendar.’
All funds raised by the sale of the calendars will go to the St Peter Port lifeboat station.
Colin Le Conte, of the St Peter Port Lifeboat Station management group, said: ‘Tony is a stalwart Lifeboat supporter in many ways.
‘He is a lover of the sea and not much connected with the Guernsey lifeboat or harbour scene goes unnoticed by Tony.
‘He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and he is a superb photographer.
‘He has produced some great action shots of actual lifeboat shouts.’
