Banka education model to be launched in other dists: CM Nitish Kumar

PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday lauded the ‘Banka Unnayan’ smart class project and said similar programme would be launched in other districts also to enhance the learning ability of students in the government schools.
Under the ‘Banka Unnayan’ project, Class X students of government high schools are taught their subjects through interesting videos and slides on TV screens in two or three periods per day, besides their traditional classes on a regular basis.
At the end of these slides, bullet points recap all the essential features.
At the end of such sessions, students are given OMR sheets having related questions to fill up. After that they are given each other’s answer sheets for evaluation. The project is implemented in all the 143 higher secondary schools of Banka.
“This method of teaching is very effective,” Nitish told reporters after observing the it at Thakur Rudreshwari Prasad High School in Kakwara village.Banka DM Kundan Kumar, who played the lead role in the project, informed the CM about its benefits and how it had enhanced students’ attendance and their performance in school examinations.
The students also shared their experience with the CM and informed him how they had been benefited after the introduction of smart classes under the Banka Unnayan project.
“I have told the district officials to expand the innovative method in more classes and more schools. If it was implemented properly in entire district for a year, Banka will be converted into a ‘Gyan ki bhoomi’ (place of knowledge),” Nitish told reporters.
