AGRA: A goods train carrying several tonnes of salt was derailed early on Saturday in
Farrukhabad district. After the accident, the Kanpur-Farrukhabad railway section operation was halted.
The accident occurred at 5.9am near Singhirampur railway station, which is 17 km away from Farrukhabad junction. In the accident, last three wagons of the train got uncoupled and derailed.
According to the railway officials, the train was heading towards Naugachia of Sonpur division from Nawa City of Jodhpur division.
Ramesh Kumar, the goods train guard has sustained injuries in the incident. He was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
An accident relief train reached the spot at 8.30am from Kasganj.
Rajendra Kumar, public relation officer of Izzatnagar division of Northeastern railway said, “It’s yet to be ascertained as what lead to accident. A team of three senior railway officials has been formed to investigate the matter. The ground staff is working to repair the track in order to restore the train services as soon as possible.”
Due to the accident, over dozens of passengers, express trains via Farrukhabad to Kanpur were halted, diverted or cancelled.
