BAREILLY: On Saturday, Sambhal police claimed to have nabbed an accused of an inter-district gang for being involved in several incidents of road rage, robbery and killing people on highways. The accused person is identified as Mahir Ali of Bijnor district.
Superintendent of police, Yamuna Prasad, said that he had been wanted for a murder, which happened on August 1, when a cattle trader was gunned downed on opposing robbery bid by the arrested accused.

“Today, acting on a tipoff, we arrested Mahir near Manota culvert early morning and recovered a country-made pistol with two live cartridges and a stolen motorbike from his possession. During brief interrogation, he confessed to have killed cattle trader Iqrar Ali in August along with his accomplice Furqan. Both are shooters of Bhura gang,” SP said adding that Bhura was the same person who had shot at a police inspector in Bijnor during an encounter in October.
Iqrar was coming from cattle market after selling his livestock on the fateful day when the duo accused stopped him after chasing him for 16 kilometres near Mathana village. They snatched Rs 52,000 from him and shot him down when he tried to protest them. The accused also shot at Iqrar’s friend Saddam who was with him at that time, who had been rushed to the hospital.
Police had lodged an FIR in the case under section 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC. Police said that as many as six cases of serious charges were lodged against him in Amroha, Moradabad and Bijnor.
