Two with illegal firearms arrested in Jogeshwari

Mumbai: Two people were arrested for possession of illegal firearms in Jogeshwari (East) on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Raju Hariram Tiwari (38), a resident of Ambedkarnagar, Thane, who hails from Pali Tehsil, Uttar Pradesh, and Jagdish Rajaram Yadav (38), a resident of Taluka Kheda, Pune.

Based on a tip-off, a police team caught the two at Shivaji nagar, Shaheed Road. The two were found with four indigenously developed, unregistered guns, and two unused 8mm round bullets.

According to the police, the two were planning to sell the firearms off. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-VIII) Anil D. Kumbhare said, “Investigations are on to find out from where they got the firearms and to whom they were planning to sell.”

The accused were taken into police custody.
