PATNA: Two motorcycle-borne criminals shot dead an employee of a private construction firm at Bariyarpur village under the Pachrukhi police station area in Siwan district around 3pm on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Sujit Tiwari (35), site manager of the construction firm and a resident of Hajipur town in Vaishali district. The incident took place when Sujit reached the firm’s new construction site at Bariyarpur on a bike.
On November 28, three motorcycle-borne criminals had raided another construction site of the same firm at Daraunda and asked one of its senior officials to either pay Rs 20 lakh as extortion or face dire consequences.
The Daraunda police had registered an FIR in connection with the extortion threat on the basis of a written complaint submitted by site supervisor Nurain Raza.
Siwan SP Naveen Chandra Jha said the killing of the firm employee was probably linked with the extortion threat. Jha, who visited the spot, said Sujit died after a bullet fired by the criminals pierced his head.
“The criminals fled after committing the crime,” the SP said. The firm has been identified as Kamla Aditya Construction Private Limited, which is based in Bokaro. “The firm has been constructing canals in Siwan, Gopalganj and Saran for the last three years,” he said.
SHO of Pachrukhi police station Amit Kumar Singh said the firm had set up its camp at Bariyarpur only on Friday.
Daraunda police station SHO Manoj Kumar Prabhakar said police have already identified the criminals who had sought extortion from the official of the private firm on November 28 and raids were on to arrest them.
