A bizarre green light which appeared in the sky during a thunderstorm has led many to question whether it was actually a UFO.

Leigh Stevens spotted the mysterious light while filming a lightning storm in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, on Monday, December 3.

He was filming in his back garden when he spotted the weird happening, before sharing the clip online.

The video, which got over 200,000 views, prompted many to speculate.

A thunderstorm was filling the sky then the green burst erupted

It appears to show a green light burst into the sky, before forming a crescent and then hanging in the air.

The Western Australian reported that the light was seen by other residents and that it stayed put for at least 30 minutes.

Neil Bennett of the Bureau of Meteorology in the country, told newspaper the bureau had never seen anything like the aurora-like light.

“We don’t think it (the green light) is part of the thunderstorm," he said.

"We think it’s a reflection of something on the ground, rather than coming from the clouds.”
