In an attempt to set a Guinness World Record, the Police College will make the biggest football model symbolising the hosting of 2022 World Cup in the country.

It is part of the Police College participation in the events of Darb Al Saai in celebrations of the Qatar National Day 2018. More than 4,000 people including citizens and residents of different ages will join this initiative of fixing 33,500 coloured wooden pieces. These pieces would be put together in the shape of a huge football which will be unveiled on the last day of National Day celebrations.

This was announced yesterday in a press conference held at the Officers’ Club of the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

Major Fahad Saeed Al Subaie, Director of Training Department said that: “One of the highlights of the event is the college’s attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records by creating a football model that symbolises the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with the participation of a large number of citizens, residents and school students.”

Al Subaie noted that the events also include pavilions displaying latest techniques used by the Ministry of Interior in providing security and humanitarian services to the public, in addition to a model of the Police Museum.

“The College is holding its activities this year under the slogan “Qatar brings us together 2022” and there are many surprises that will be offered by the Police College to the public and the students in Darb Al Saai,” Al Subaie added.

Captain Rashid Ali Al Tamimi, Head of Sports Training Section, said that the school students will have opportunity to participate in various police and military training and self-defense activities which are aimed at developing self-confidence and physical fitness. The main event includes the training for 380 students from primary schools in the country.

The participating students will undergo the basic training that the officer candidate undergoes in the college, such as military parade, military salute, as well as their self-defense skills, by specialised trainers in this field. During the event, a number of barriers will be passed, which will enhance the physical fitness and flexibility of the students.

The students group will later learn how a security man work, in various scenarios, such as raids and crime scene. The Police College invites the public to visit Dar Al-Sai and enjoy the special events that the college organizes for all age groups.
