Willis Towers Watson, a UK-based global advisory, broking and solutions company, has sent optimal technical and commercial proposals for consulting services and preparing an insurance strategy for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline construction project, Trend reports citing the Turkmen Altyn Asyr TV channel.

The proposals cover the work in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as developing an insurance program, negotiating with major insurance organizations and concluding contracts.

This topic was touched upon during a report presented by Turkmen president’s adviser on oil and gas issues Yagshygeldi Kakayev.

In particular, it was noted that the laying of the Turkmen section of the new pipeline actively continues. Preparations are underway for the construction of the pipeline in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The relevant geological and technical survey, ground and relief studies, as well as environmental impact assessment, are being carried out.

In addition, tenders for the supply of pipe products and the construction of the pipeline’s route in Afghanistan and Pakistan are at the final stage, the report said.

The construction of the pipeline began in December 2015. The possible costs of the TAPI project vary within $7-10 billion.

The total length of the pipeline, with a capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year will be 1,840 kilometers. The fuel will be supplied from the Galkynysh gas field in Turkmenistan, the second largest in the world.

The length of the Turkmen section will be 205 kilometers.

Then, this energy bridge will pass through the Afghan cities of Herat and Kandahar (816 kilometers), through the cities of Quetta and Multan across Pakistani territory (819 kilometers), and reach the settlement of Fazilka in India.
