The prime minister is likely to address at least 10 rallies on her way back to Dhaka through Faridpur, Rajbari and Manikganj.
Hasina is contesting the 11th national election from Gopalganj-3, the constituency that covers Tungipara and Kotalipara. She has been elected six times from the seat.
The prime minister’s motorcade has set off from Tungipara to Dhaka at 9am on Thursday. Leaders from the Awami League and allies are accompanying her.
Hasina addressed the rally at Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Ideal Government College at Kotalipara and sought votes for the ruling party’s ‘boat’ symbol at her first campaign rally in Gopalganj’s Kotalipara on Wednesday.
“You must vote for the boat symbol to provide an appropriate response to the anti-liberation forces, convicted war criminals, the enemies of independence, arsonists, mass killers, criminals, and their associates who have made them candidates,” Hasina said, referring to the BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami.
Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana attended the rally but did not deliver speech.
The prime minister held a meeting with the local Awami League leaders in Tungipara following the rally. She spent the night there.
The prime minister is expected to address the planned rallies at Bhanga, Faridpur, Rajbari, Arwa Union, Paturia, Manikganj Municipality, Rabeya Medical College Hospital premise in Dhamrai and Ward-5 in Savar.
