An old Perth bank building could be transformed into a golf simulation centre.

The former Bank of Scotland at 216 - 222 South Street is subject to a change of use application from a Colin Bell and a company called The Virtual Golf Lounge And Bar Ltd.

The proposal could also see a cafe and bar created at the site.

However, the news has upset at least one local, who claimed the area is already too noisy and a haven for anti -social behaviour.

Writing to Perth and Kinross Council, they said: “It’s already noisy due to the pub across the road.

“There are often fights which the police have to attend.

“The path to the car park down the side of Dominos is already an open sewer and stinks of urine, this will make it even worse.

“If this is made into one of these golf lounges, which attracts stag dos and the like, I will have to move.

“This will cost me money I don’t have.

“Please make it into something quiet.”

However, a public comment has been posted from Colin Bell defending the proposal: “A brand new concept to Perth. Two state of the art golf simulators (like the ones you see on Sky Sports Golf programmes) and a Formula One simulator which will bring a new leisure facility to the city.

“Together with a small kitchen, producing good simple food, and a comfortable relaxing bar area, Perth is crying out for something like this.”

Residents have until December 21 to comment on the application.

The building has lain vacant since late 2016 when the bank closed.

It had previously been the subject to a bid to open an Italian restaurant.
