Pregnant woman pushed off from a moving train: Andra Pradesh

ANANTAPUR: An unidentified attacker pushed a seven-month pregnant woman named Karnati Divya out of a moving train by near Dharmavaram in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday morning.

Her baby is critical as she sustained multiple injuries. She is a native of Piduguralla in Guntur district. The incident took place in the Bengaluru-bound Kondaveedu Express.

Last week she had gone to Piduguralla with her husband and mother-in-law to attend a family function. While her husband returned to Bengaluru three days ago, she was travelling with her mother-in-law to meet her husband, said T Mohan Prasad, Dharmavaram railway inspector.

A man in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, aged about 35 years, pushed Divya out of the door while she was washing her hands at the washbasin when the train approached Dharmavaram around 6 am on Tuesday.

The attacker also jumped from the train and dragged her into the nearby bushes and snatched away a gold chain, two gold bangles, two earrings and two rings from her.

She sustained injuries due to the fall. She narrated the incident to the locals, they first took her to a government hospital and later to a private hospital in Anantapur.
