Maoist shot, AK-47 & SLR seized in Bihar's Jamui

PATNA: A Maoist was gunned down in encounter with CoBRA commandos of 207 battalion of CRPF in the Gidheshwar hills area under the Khaira police station in Jamui district on Saturday evening. One AK-47 rifle and one self-loading rifle (SLR) were seized from the spot.
Sources said CoBRA commandos were dispatched after specific intelligence inputs about the presence of armed cadres of CPI (Maoist), a banned terror outfit.
"The encounter began at around 4pm and continued till 6pm. The Maoist's body in uniform was recovered from the site. His identity is yet to be ascertained. Several backpacks, along with an AK-47 rifle and SLR, were recovered from the encounter site," sources said.
Sources said CoBRA commandos were conducting search and combing operations in area till late evening.
