Bihar: Five dead after part of building collapses in Jehanabad
Police said the two-storey building was being renovated
PATNA: Five persons including, a woman and her daughter, were crushed to death and two others were seriously injured after a part of an old building collapsed at Panchmahla under the Town police station area in Jehanabad.
Jehanabad ASP Pankaj Kumar said that deceased were identified as Gayartri Devi (35), her daughter Twinkle Kumari (15), Ram Vinay Prasad (35), Arvind Kumar (26) and one Vaidyanath Prasad.

Kumar said that the two-storey building was being renovated and suddenly, a part of wall came down and fell on the middle of the road killing three persons at the spot while one died later.
“Of the three injured, two were rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) as their situation was critical and one other was being treated at District Sadar Hospital. However, one of the injured rushed to PMCH also died there during treatment,” he said.
DM Alok Ranjan Ghosh said that ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh has been disbursed to the kin of two deceased. “Rest would be disbursed later as the family members were not in a situation for accepting the ex-gratia cheque,” he added.
