LUCKNOW: Police have registered an FIR against the Unnao rape survivor, who had levelled charges against BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, on the complaint of the husband of a co-accused that the victim had allegedly framed his son in a kidnapping case in 2017.
In the FIR, Haripal Singh, husband of co-accused Sashi Singh, also stated that the rape survivor’s parents had mentioned the victim’s “incorrect” date of birth (to establish she is a minor) by forging signatures of the authorities.
CBI had arrested Shashi on charges that she lured the rape survivor on the pretext of giving her a job and took her to Sengar.
On the orders of a district court, police registered a fresh case of forgery and cheating against the minor, her widowed mother and uncle. The complainant had approached court, stating that police were not entertaining his plaint against the victim.
When contacted, the rape survivor expressed shock at this twist in the case even after the CBI had already submitted two chargesheets against Sengar, accusing him of rape. Her family members said they did not have the means to fight the case. “Her father died in judicial custody and uncle Mahesh was arrested last month in a separate case. Our alive male member is my 5-year-old son. We all are illiterate, unemployed and have no idea on how to fight this case,” her sister told TOI.
