BENGALURU: A 30-year-old person has been arrested by Vidhana Soudha police for allegedly forging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s signature in a fake recommendation letter to the Karnataka high court registrar, in which it asked to employ his as a typist.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Uded, a resident of Belagavi and an employee with a private firm.
Police said that they had registered a case of cheating and forgery a week ago against Sanjay based on a complaint filed by Rajeshwari, deputy registrar of high court.
A special team arrested the accused from Belagavi.
“We have brought him to Bengaluru city and produced before the court. We have taken him to police custody for further probe,” a police officer said.
Police said that Sanjay had prepared a fake recommendation certificate of the Prime Minister Office (PMO) and forged Narendra Modi’s signature. The letter was made to appear like it was dispatched from the PMO and it reached the registrar office.
The high court officials were shocked to notice recommendation letter from the PM for a typist post. The fake letter had directed the registrar office to give typist job to Sanjay.

“They suspected foul play and sent the letter to the high court vigilance wing to verify it. The vigilance team communicated with the PMO and they confirmed no such recommendation letter was dispatched. Vigilance officials submitted a report to the registrar office,” a police officer said.
Deputy registrar Rajeshwari had filed forgery case against Sanjay on December 17. The accused confessed to his crime.
“Sanjay had completed his BSc and typing course. He had kept eye on government jobs and applied for typist's post in February. He he will get the job easily if he got a recommendation letter from Narendra Modi," she said.
