Continuing his tirade against the Congress over its “unfulfilled” farm loan waiver promises, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said only a small number of loans were waived in Karnataka after the recent assembly elections in the state. He was addressing a public meeting in Ghazipur. A JD(S)-Congress coalition government is now in power in Karnataka.
In Ghazipur, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a medical college here and released a commemorative postal stamp on Maharaja Suheldev. “Several important steps have been taken to transform Purvanchal into a big medical hub and to strengthen the small industries of UP,” he was quoted as saying by PTI. Rajbhar, which is an OBC community, constitutes a significant population in Purvanchal and during 2017 Assembly elections in the state, BJP had roped in SBSP to woo Rajbhars of the region and had even made its chief Om Prakash Rajbhar a cabinet minister in the state government. Congress overturned the governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but farmers are already facing the brunt of it as they have to stand in long queues to get Urea. Even in Karnataka, Congress made a backstage entry and established government there. They gave lollipops to people in terms of assurances, and promised loan waiver but only 800 people got their loan waived.
How can you trust these lollipop companies? They could never waive off such huge debt amounts in 2009-10, how did they do it suddenly now? Because they have sent police after those farmers. In front of 6 lakh crore debt, they have waived off only 60 crore. When CAG report came, out of this amount, 35 lakh did not go to farmers or indebted people, then where has the money gone?
Soon after the medical college comes up, Ghazipur will be endowed with modern medical facilities and meritorious doctors. At a cost of around Rs 250 crore, the district Hospital of Ghazipur will have 300 beds after the college is ready.
The central government's determination to those who have also contributed to the uptake of India's defence, social life will not be erased in people's memory.
On the release of the postal stamps, PM Modi describes Maharaja Suhel Dev and says, "To commemorate Maharaja Suhel Dev's death, we are releasing these stamps so that they reach each and every household. To make known of his efforts from years ago, we are driven towards these efforts as he was an icon of bravery, courage and unity. He belonged to everyone, similar to our 'Sabka saath, Sabka Vikaas' campaign. We want the future generations to remember such brave warriors, which the previous governments have forgotten."
"It took Congress 70 years to build 17 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, post-independence, whereas in 4.5 years, BJP built 13 medical colleges which boasts of 2 AIIMS and other BHU colleges. In the memory of Vallabhbhai Sardar Patel, soon more colleges are coming up in Lucknow and elsewhere in UP, due to PM's efforts," says Yogi Adityanath. The UP Chief Minister also urged people to ensure a sweeping victory for Modi in 2019, better as compared to 2014 and 2017.

In Ghazipur, BJP wants to showcase its own strength. It may be mentioned that about a month back when BJP had held a meeting for Rajbhar community in the state capital while holding separate meetings for every OBC sub-caste, the SBSP chief was conspicuous by his absence. He had alleged that he was not invited. Sources said that instead of Om Prakash, the saffron party is focusing on BJP leader Anil Rajbhar, who is an MLA from neighbouring Chandauli district and is also a minister in the state government.
Apna Dal Chief calls BJP's attitude arrogant and has refused to take part in the programs organised by the government.
