Property dealer abducted, thrashed in Deoria jail

LUCKNOW: In a brazen display of muscle power and utter lawlessness dreaded don Atiq Ahmad's men kidnapped a property dealer from Krishnanagar and took him to Deoria jail where they thrashed him and later dumped him near his house in Lucknow.
The victim Mohit Jaiswal first went to the hospital and later lodged a complaint with Krishnanagar police accussing Atiq Ahmad, his son Umar and five aides of kidnapping and assaulting him.

Jaiswal's kin told TOI that Mohit was abducted from Gomtinagar river front on December 26 morning. He was then taken to Deoria where he was beaten by 25 men including Ahmad. Jaiswal was also forced to sign some papers. Later, he was dumped near his house in Krishnanagar on the same day.
SP (Deoria) N. Kolanchi told TOI that we are checking CCTVs of the jail. He also said that on jail register the entry time of Jaiswal has been mentioned as 11am and his exit is 11.30am on December 26.
"I have asked the jailer for a detailed information about the incident," he added.
IG Gorakhpur Zone JN Singh has ordered an inquiry into the incident and instructed SP Deoria to submit a report.
