Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has said that Kurnool district in the Rayalaseema region of the State will emerge as a major industrial hub, with the greenfield Kurnool airport and a mega solar energy park being inaugurated on Tuesday.

After inaugurating the two major projects, he said the foundation stone for the greenfield airport had been laid only 18 months and the terminal as well as the runway had been completed in record time. The trial run conducted recently was successful. The flights would take off from Kurnool airport this summer. "First, Kurnool will be linked with Amaravati, the capital, and later with Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. Air connectivity will bring in greater investment to the district and the region," he said.

He also laid the foundation stone for an industrial park near Orvakallu where the airport is located and later inaugurated a mega solar energy park with 1,000 MW capacity. It is said to be the third largest solar park in the world.

Later, participating in the Janmabhoomi programme in the district, he said while he was striving day and night to develop the State in spite of the non-cooperation from the Centre the Opposition leader of the YSR Congress Party, Jagan Mohan Reddy, was levelling baseless charges against him (the Chief Minister). "I am accused of perpetrating corruption to the extent of Rs 6 lakh crores. Even our State budget is not that much," he remarked.

He alleged "a nexus between the Prime Minister, the Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chadrasekhara Rao, and Jagan Mohan Reddy" to obstruct all his development plans. "Jagan is afraid of the Prime Minister, as he is facing ten cases of corruption and quid pro quo and the Prime Minister has kept him under his thumb. That is why Jagan is afraid of questioning the Prime Minister on questioning the Prime Minister on the injustice done to the State," he said.
