Kumbh Mela: Lakhs of devotees gather in Prayagraj ahead of first Shahi Snan

Sea of devotees gathered in Prayagraj ahead of Kumbh Mela’s first Shahi Snan. The first Shahi Snan will take place on Makar Sankranti - January 15. Around 130-140 million pilgrims and tourists are expected to take a dip at Sangam during the mela, which will end on March 4. According to beliefs, the holy dip will rid them of their sins and free them from the cycle of life and death. The budget for Kumbh Mela 2019 is Rs 4,300 crore and it is spread over 3,200 hectares.
