Ignou study centre inside Yerawada jail

Pune: A study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) was inaugurated in Yerawada Central Prison on Saturday. The enrolment for inmates would be free and the academic session will start in February 2019.
Courses such as Bachelor Preparatory Programme, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Master in English, Master in Hindi, Master in Sociology, Master in Political Science, Master in Commerce, Master in Gandhian Peace Studies, Master in Economics, Master in History, Certificate in Food and Nutrition, Certificate in Human Rights, and Rural Development are available.
About 100 inmates may enrol. Support would be sought from senior teachers from colleges in Pune.
