Conveying Bhogi and Sankranti festival wishes, Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan on Sunday said people should not keep quiet if Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu says he and his son Nara Lokesh should return to power and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy declares his intention to be at the helm for decades as both were mired in corruption.

“I have received many threats to my life but I formed the party to take up the cudgels on behalf of the people,” he said at a public meeting held at party leader Nadendla Manohar’s agricultural farm at Tenali in Guntur district.

Mr. Pawan stressed on putting an end to politics of succession which helped parties and individuals grow at the cost of the State and said the JSP did not emerge from ‘foundations of backstabbing’.

He said bifurcation had a devastating impact as it was done in an arbitrary manner and the voices of leaders like Mr. Manohar were stifled and claimed to have made it clear to the protagonists of Telangana Statehood that leaders not people were at fault for the ills that plagued them.

Mr. Pawan reiterated that the JSP was in for a long haul in politics and not essentially tied up with any election. It required the support of the youth who should realise that the time was ripe for a change. The JSP was committed to the welfare of the downtrodden sections who continued to face oppression. Mr. Pawan said the JSP would organise farmers’ meetings in the second week of February to discuss the issues related to agriculture and find solutions to their problems. Earlier, he went to the fields of Mr. Manohar at Pedaravuru in a huge procession from the VSR & NVR College. In the evening, he participated in Sankranti festivities.
