PATNA: Munger University is likely to launch a ‘University Gram Samvad Yojana’ for establishing a link between college students and rural youth and ensuring proper implementation of welfare schemes in villages.
According to vice-chancellor Ranjit Kumar Verma, all Munger University colleges will adopt a village and ensure its all-round development, as part of their social outreach activities.
“Students and faculty members will visit the adopted villages regularly and undertake health awareness, cleanliness and plantation drives there.
They will also involve the villagers and some voluntary social organizations for conducting surveys and preparing data banks,” Verma said on Wednesday.
The compiled data will be stored in the ‘Gram Samvad Cell’ of the university which will act as a link between the villages and different departments of the state and central governments for grievance redressal.
“Students and teachers will also impart necessary skill development training to the village youth for promoting self-employment among them,” said Verma.
