Polokwane Municipality will continue to deploy water tankers in areas that continue to be affected by low water pressure and shortages following continuous disruptions of bulk supply from both Lepelle Northern Water plants over the past two weeks.
Earlier this morning (Thursday) Communications and Marketing Manager of the municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo said the Ebenezer plant experienced electricity supply disruptions several times during the last week while the Olifantspoort water treatment plan experienced several shut-offs due to a high level of mud in the water following heavy rains in the catchment area and vandalism of infrastructure.
“Currently most of the reservoirs are at 0% and all areas of supply are affected. Both plants are now reported to be in operation and running in full capacity,” Mothapo reported and urged consumers in areas that are receiving water to use water sparingly as the water supply is under serious strain.
“The municipality appreciates your patience during this trying times,” Mothapo concluded and advised residents to report water shortages to the municipality’s help line on 015 290 2376 or 2629.
