6 arrested for killing leopard in Mancherial

HYDERABAD: Forest officials on Thursday arrested six persons for killing a leopard by using a snare in Mancherial forest of Luxittepet range on January 14, after a sniffer dog identified one of them.
Mancherial forest divisional officer J Venkateswara Rao told TOI, “Poachers set up a snare using a bike clutch wire to kill wild boars. But the leopard got ensnared in it.
The sniffer dog identified a youth. He confessed and spoke of others who were involved.”
The accused, out of fear, didn’t take out the claws and teeth. The accused were identified as Dula Srinivas, Gurram Nagesh, Polka Suresh, Dula Venkatesh of Rangapeta and Bandi Sampat and Jambi Sampat of Nakkalapally. They were produced before the second Additional Judicial Magistrate in Mancherial and remanded to judicial custody till January 31.
