A man was stabbed in the stomach for allegedly resisting a robbery in south Delhi’s Munirka on Thursday night, the police said. Seiminlun Haokip, is a resident of Manipur, lives with his wife in Munirka.

“The victim is currently unemployed. His wife works at a general store near Munrika. The incident happened when Haokip was walking towards the general store to take his wife back home,” said DCP (South-West) Devender Arya.

Instead of taking the main road, he took a shortcut through a slum, said the DCP. “He alleged that he was waylaid by two-three men, who asked him to part with his mobile phone. They stabbed him when he resisted and fled,” said Mr. Arya. Haokip called the police at 9.15 p.m. A team arrived at the spot and found a knife near the crime spot. Haokip was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is said to be serious. The DCP said some suspects have been identified and a case has been registered at Vasant Vihar police station.
