She was admitted to the Trauma Centre in Varanasi where she died on Thursday. The administration also released the supporting documents, including the memo of the train driver and the written statement by the mother of the deceased submitted to the GRP.
The situation was brought under control only after eight hours when additional police force with DIG (Shahabad range) Rakesh Kumar Rathi reached the spot.
The mob accused an upper caste youth of the girl’s rape and murder. But Rathi said the reason behind her death would be ascertained only after investigation. No one was arrested till the last report came in. The sources said the deceased from Badaura village was found in a critical condition on the tracks near Bhabhua Road railway station on Wednesday noon. On the train driver’s report, the RPF and GRP men reached the spot and informed her family members.
After postmortem, the family members brought the body to their village. On Friday morning, they reached the police station with the body demanding immediate arrest of a co-villager for allegedly raping the girl and throwing her before the running train.
After ransacking the police station and setting its building and vehicles ablaze, the irate mob blocked Buxar-Mohania main road. When DSP Mohania and police inspector Bindhyachal, along with additional police force, reached the spot and tried to persuade the villagers to lift the blockade, they thrashed them. The police officers somehow managed to flee with serious injuries.
