Gaya’s Abhishek Kumar is state topper in JEE Main
PATNA: Abhishek Kumar from Gaya has topped from state in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), the results of which were announced on Saturday by the National Testing Agency. Abhishek has scored 99.97 percentile. The examinations were held between January 8 and 12 in two shifts and altogether 53,908 students from the state had appeared in it.
Students, who have cleared the JEE Main and feature in the top 70 percentile, will take JEE Advanced 2019.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee will conduct the JEE-Advanced in June. The JEE Main is conducted twice a year in January and April and candidates have the option to either appear in one or both the exams.
JEE Main is conducted for admissions to IIT, National Institute of Technology and other engineering colleges throughout the country.
Satyam Kumar from Lakhisarai has scored 99.90 percentile and got 95 marks each in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Delighted over the result, Satyam told this newspaper that he had studied eight hours a day to prepare for the examination. “I know I can do better than this and will appear again for the JEE Main which will be held in April,” he said.
“I want to score more than 300 and will prepare harder for the JEE Main II,” Satyam said, adding he wants to pursue BTech (computer science and engineering) course after clearing JEE Advanced. Born to autorickshaw driver Amarnath Singh and homemaker Mamta Devi, Satyam wants to work in information and technology field. The boy completed his Class X from DAV Public School, Lakhisarai in 2017 and scored a perfect 10 CGPA (cumulative grade point average).

Satyam said, “I would be glad if I get the admission in IIT Delhi.” His younger sister Chandani Kumari studied in Class XI in Lakhisarai.
Satyam’s father Manoj also expressed happiness over the success of his son and told this newspaper that it is only possible because of Abhyanand,
Former Bihar DGP Abhayanand, who runs a coaching institute for underprivileged in Patna, said 12 of 30 students from his institute appeared in JEE Main I and the rest will appear in JEE Main II.
