KANPUR: Tragedy struck a Noida techie and his woman friend early on Friday when their car crashed into a potato-laden tractor-trolley on the state highway in Auraiya, in which the woman suffered critical head injuries and died on the spot.
The techie, a native of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, was so traumatized by the loss of his love that he slashed his wrist and neck with a blade and tried to kill himself at the accident site.

ACCIDENT

However, a crowd gathered at the site rushed him to hospital, where he’s battling for life. This is the second tragedy in 48 hours on the highway near Auraiya after a wannabe groom bled to death after his car hit stray cattle on Wednesday.
Ravi Teja, 35, resident of Maniksira locality of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, lost control of his car when the driver of the tractor speeding ahead, suddenly slammed on the brakes, triggering the crash.
Teja’s woman friend, Swati Nadia, 28, of Umaria district of Chhattisgarh, bled to death on the spot. The incident took place at dawn on the fogged-out highway.
Villagers rushed to the spot and extricated the injured trapped in the wreckage and alerted the highway patrol team, which in turn tipped off Ajitmal kotwali police. Swati was taken to a community health centre in Ajitmal, where she was declared brought dead.

The techie, Ravi, was so shell-shocked on hearing about Swati’s death that he slashed his wrist and neck with a blade.
He was rushed to Saifai Medical University in Etawah, where he’s critical, police said.
The duo was driving to Varanasi from Noida late on Thursday to attend a marriage of a friend, Anuj Singh. Ravi is employed as a software engineer with a Noida-based private software firm, while Swati was pursuing her post-graduation in criminology and forensic science at Delhi’s Loknayak Jai Prakash Hospital,” said senior sub-inspector of police, Ajitmal, Awdhesh Trivedi. He said Swati’s body has been sent for autopsy. No FIR has been registered so far.
